Weston Business Centres Ltd are looking to recruit a Chef Assistant to join our busy catering team based at our Business Centre in Takeley, Essex.

As a Chef Assistant you will provide culinary support to the Business Centre within all areas of the Catering Department. The successful candidate must have similar experience working in a busy kitchen within the catering industry, be flexible, punctual and reliable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide support to the Catering Manager & Cafe Supervisor by cooking and preparing food

  • To coordinate, direct & prepare the prompt, efficient & courteous service of all food

  • To ensure minimum wastage and maximise food & beverage GP

  • To manage food production the kitchen in the absence of Catering Manager & Supervisor and ensure offerings are served as required

  • Ensure that stock rotation is maintained

  • Maintain food & beverage orders for the unit

  • Ensure staff grooming, dress code & hygiene standards are met

  • Maintain excellent working relationships with all business centre clients & personnel.

  • Work with the CM in implementing new ideas, opportunities, dishes & promotions within the unit

  • To be fully conversant with the Food Safety Manual and standards & to ensure all administration & data are recorded

  • Ensure COSHH is being carried out within the unit and control sanitation, cleanliness, waste control & hygiene

  • Operate within the guidelines set in the company handbook and ensure team adheres

  • Always arrive before start of shift and be prepared to carry out any ad hoc duties, functions & projects where required

  • Any other duties that commensurate with the post


  • NVQ Level 2 Catering & Hospitality  

  • Customer Service experience within a kitchen

  • Knowledge and experience in food preparation

  • CIEH Level 2 Food Safety

  • Experience within a catering/kitchen environment
