Weston Logistics are rapidly expanding and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a HGV Class 1 Plant Driver.  The successful candidate will operate a company vehicle for the effective and timely collections and/or deliveries of plant, equipment, machinery, materials and anything else relating to the operational needs of the business, to customers sites and distribution centres. The successful candidate is to be qualified and competent in the loading, unloading and operation of various mechanical plant items and lorry mounted cranes.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure the safe, timely and secure (un)loading of plant and goods to correct procedures, helping to load and unload Plant & Goods where required;

  • Operate the Lorry Mounted Crane safely and in accordance to correct procedures;

  • Ensure Plant supplied to customers is in good working condition prior to loading/unloading;

  • Ensure Plant is delivered with the correct PDI check sheet, operations manual and relevant Logistics Dispatch or Return notes all being appropriately signed by customers; making note of any visible damages or defects on your paperwork prior to the customer signing;

  • Work in a safe manner, complying with all statutory and company specific health and safety regulations/requirements;

  • Complete paperwork accurately and in accordance with correct procedures;

  • Plan best possible driving routes prior to setting off to meet deadlines;

  • Drive the vehicle in accordance with relevant laws, tachograph laws, driver hours limits and daily defect reporting;

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicles and driving cab at all times;

  • Be fully aware of the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT also ensuring the vehicle attends service centres at the booked intervals in order to meet Operator Licensing requirements;

  • Assist in the accurate picking and secure packaging of products for dispatch;

  • To work effectively as part of a team and to motivate other team members;

  • Keep areas of work clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency including depot;

  • To wholly understand the needs and deadlines of the business and carrying out any tasks or duties as required or requested for the effective operation of the Company;

  • Any other duties as reasonably required or seen fit as/when there may be no driving available and tidy to ensure operational efficiency;

  • To carry out any tasks or duties as required for the effective operation of the Company.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) licence, to a minimum Category C licence.

  • Competent in the loading and unloading of plant equipment and/or goods and materials

  • Lorry Mounted Crane licence required

  • Forklift (Telehandler & Counterbalance) licence required

  • Cherry Picker (various) licence required

  • Scissor Lift (various) licence required

  • Digital tachograph driver smart card & CSCS Card

  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence Qualification (Driver CPC)

  • Medical certificate (as and where applicable)

  • Physically fit

  • Ability to plan and organise work along with excellent communication skills.

  • Competent use of relevant software: including WMS, Gmail and Google Apps.

  • To be experienced and demonstrate a high level of competence in Welfare Accommodation setup/dismantling
